Alternate title: "Lifetime Student?"
When I was a kid, I had a button that said "No Condo, No MBA, No BMW." I don't know if it was originally my parents' button, or if I had picked it out myself. I can assure you that I didn't really know what it meant, only that most adults who saw the button reacted positively. Suffice it to say, most of the adults I came into contact with were not yuppies, the group the joke was obviously poking fun at.
Well, here we are 20 years later, and I'm one step closer to becoming "the guy" the button was making fun of. Next week I return to school for the third time in seven years... this time I am enrolled in the Master of Business Administration in Technology Management program, again at the University of Phoenix online. Yes, that's an MBA program.
In two years, after I earn the MBA, I guess I'll buy that BMW. But I'll pass on the condo, I prefer my single family home, thank you.

Chris,
I am so proud of your focus and determination. You have always shown a maturity and "level headed focus" that has always been an insperation.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Love Dad

I think you picked that button out yourself. I don't recall having one like that. Ah, we all change. Once I was a Hippie. Now I drive an Acura and read New York magazine and wear a bra.

I know a little how you feel Chris. I earned my paralegal certification at 40. I guess we have to evolve or go homeless. I would only be concerned if you started voting republican. I think we all prefer living in a home & driving a decent car to homelessness.

At my school, we have an unhealthy rivalry between the law students and the MBA students. I guess this means we can't be friends...
Really, good luck with school. I know that making the decision to go back is a big one (and an intimidating one), but it will be worth it in the end.
I know a guy from work that went back to law school when he was 37. He was talking to his wife about it before he had decided to go and he was worried that he wouldn't be finished until he was 40. His wife said that he would be 40 either way, so he might as well be 40 with a law degree. So, not only is that a little inspirational, but you are also way ahead of that guy.

Yeah, it's funny how getting your BS or BA degree at age 30 makes you seem *old* but getting your MBA at 32 isn't so bad. Most of the people in my MBA program are at least 5-10 years older than myself...
