You know it’s cold when the morning weather man is outside
hammering nails into wood with a frozen banana!
Science at its best. It was 20
below this morning – that’s Fahrenheit for those of you out of the states.
This is the weather where you can take a pot of boiling water and throw
it into the outside air and watch it turn to steam before any of it hits the
ground. Although Chris and I have done
that before, I thought it wouldn’t be the safest experiment with the little
ones. Instead Ali and I bundled and went
out on the back porch to blow some bubbles – they freeze and you can pick them
up! All Ali said was, “it’s hard with this
scarf on my face”. So I exposed her poor little face so she could blow some. We were able to pick them up but it had warmed
up a little (-16F) and so they were
kind of saggy and cracked into pieces, but it was still pretty cool. In this picture Ali is holding half a bubble. I love weather.
In case you are interested, the high today is 5 below. We have all been
inside for a few days, but it’s supposed to warm up by the weekend.
